Voter Eligibility Requirements:
You must be a registered voter in your county of
residence to be eligible to vote. In order to register, you must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age or will be 18 on or before the
first Tuesday after the first Monday in November
- Live in the State of Nebraska
- Have not been convicted of a felony, or if convicted, your
sentence and parole have been completed longer than two years
ago
- Have not been officially found to be mentally incompetent
Registration Deadlines
Registration in Person:
The deadline to register in person at the
Courthouse is the second Friday prior to the election in question.
Registrations can be completed during regular business hours 8:00 am
to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, excluding holidays. The Clerk’s office
will remain open until 6:00 pm for voter registration purpose the
second Friday prior to the election. The deadline to register in
person at any other location (i.e., Department of Motor Vehicles
offices) is the third Friday prior to the election in question.
Registration by Mail:
The registration form must be postmarked by the
third Friday prior to the election in question. If you mail in your
form, please provide both your driver’s license number and last four
digits of your social security number in the appropriate area of the
registration form.

Polling Place:
Election Day voting for all Hayes County
registered voters is at the Fair Grounds in the Ag Building located
at 209 Morton Street in Hayes Center.
Early Voting:
Early Voting Information
- Early Voting by Mail: any registered voter may vote an early
voting ballot instead of voting at their polling place.
The voter must mail or fax an
Early Voting Ballot Application to the Election Office.
Mail the application to PO Box 370, Hayes Center, NE 69032 or
fax it to 08-286-3208.
- Early Voting Ballot by Agent: an early voting ballot may be
picked up and/or delivered by an agent. The agent is
limited to assisting two voters per election. The agent
must come to the Election Office at 505 Troth Street in Hayes
Center to pick up the ballot(s).
- Early Voting in Person: any registered voter may vote in
person prior to Election Day. A voter may vote in person
at the Election Office at 505 Troth Street in Hayes Center,
Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, excluding holidays.
- Military & Overseas Voter: members of the Armed Forces and
Americans living overseas have several ways in which to vote. Learn
